The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce expressed concern over the federal government’s decision to discontinue the long form census and replace it with a new voluntary questionnaire, the National Household Survey.  In a letter to the Honourable Tony Clement, the Minister responsible for Statistics Canada, the Chamber raised three issues: data quality, process, and the impact on small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

On July 2, 2010, Minister of Justice and Public Safety, Doug W. Currie announced that new Gift Card Legislation will come into effect on September 1, 2010.  The Gift Cards Act will apply to any gift card issued on or after September 1, 2010.
