Volunteering on a committee is a great way to support the Chamber while making new business contacts. Committees typically meet monthly, while task forces tend to be event specific.

Policy Committee

Review and develop policy positions for consideration by the Board on provincial and federal issues including taxation, energy, and social programs. As well, review and provide input to the Board regarding the Canadian Chamber's annual policy resolutions.

Business Development Committee

Review and make recommendations to the Board on municipal (Charlottetown, Cornwall & Stratford) issues, budgets, programs and regulations as they relate to the economic development of the capital region and are of interest and concern to the business community.

Labour Force Committee

Review and advise the Board on human resource / labour market issues including employment standards, minimum wage, worker's compensation, workplace training, plus attracting and retaining workers.

Communications Committee

Ensure the Chamber's membership is informed of issues and activities in a timely and efficient manner in order to fulfill the Chamber's role as the voice of business in the Greater Charlottetown Area.

Networking Committee

Create positive networking experiences for members at various Chamber activities including the monthly mixers. Through the Ambassador Program, welcome and orient new members at Chamber events.

Event Committees

Assist with the planning and coordination of the Chamber's signature fundraising events.
-Golf Committee
-Biz2Biz Committee
-Excellence Awards Committee
-"Ultimate Girls Night Out" Committee

Bonding By Committee:

Virginia Rego, who works in a division of a government education ministry, cites the power of getting involved in committees. It takes her beyond her own department, helps her develop skills outside her immediate job description and most importantly allows her to network with individuals from "other departments that normally I wouldn't be working with directly." You will build internal champions and be a champion for others. --Darcy Rezac's Positive Networking Tip of the Week
