UPEI Co-op funding available for members

Wage incentives are available for private sector Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce members wishing to hire UPEI Co-operative Education students. Eligible businesses may receive a wage subsidy of 50%, up to a maximum subsidy of $9.00 per hour. Employers are eligible to receive this assistance for up to 16 weeks.

“Our students are highly motivated, bright, hard working and possess many of the valuable skills needed in today’s workforce. These students are serious about their education and are keen to contribute to the success of any business and/or organization.” Says Ernie Doiron, Coordinator of UPEI’s Business Co-op Program.

Eligibility Requirements:
1. Businesses must be part of the Island’s private sector.
2. Job description to be posted/approved by the UPEI Co-operative Education office.
3. Employee Evaluation Form to be completed following completion of work term.

Application Process:
1. Visit www.upei.ca/co-op, click on the Employers tab, fully complete and submit the application form to the Co-op Office.
2. Visit www.upei.ca/co-op, complete an employer job posting form and return it to the Co-op Office via their website.
