Chamber Meets with Senior Representatives of Veterans Affairs Canada
The Board of Directors of the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce met recently with Deputy Minister Suzanne Tining and Charlotte Stewart, Director General, Service Delivery and Program Management, for Veterans Affairs Canada to gain a better understanding of the impacts of proposed reductions in the budget of the Federal Department of Veterans Affairs.
There was a good discussion on the changes ahead for Veterans Affairs Canada due to the reduction in the current client base and the differing needs of new veterans. The Federal Government’s Deficit Reduction Plan will lead to a transformation of the federal public service. Through this process, there may be opportunities to bring new jobs here. The Chamber will continue to work in partnership with the various stakeholders to explore these opportunities.
