The 2020-21 President’s Excellence Awards will celebrate and share the spotlight on our leaders, businesses, and community as we collectively recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and help drive our economy.
As part of this year’s Awards Gala, the Chamber will introduce two special award categories that recognize our leaders, businesses, and community organizations’ resiliency, adaptability, collaboration, and success during the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery.
AWARD CATEGORIES & CRITERIA
Excellence in Business Award
This award will be given to a for-profit business that has been operating for 10 years or more.
Criteria: The nominee has demonstrated excellence in business operations including marketing, sales, customer service, human resources, financial management, environmental practices, etc.; is clearly viewed by peers as being a leader in business excellence; has demonstrated the best aspects of the entrepreneurial spirit; and has a strong track record of community involvement and support.
Excellence in Customer Service Award
The Excellence in Customer Service award will be given to a business that has shown a strong commitment to outstanding customer service, customer loyalty, and community involvement and has demonstrated innovation within the sector.
Criteria: The business is known for its exceptional customer service delivered by knowledgeable staff committed to customer satisfaction. Innovation in service delivery, conflict resolution, staff training, use of technology, and marketing set this business apart as a leader in customer service.
Emerging Business Excellence Award
This award will be given to an innovative for-profit business that demonstrates a strong potential for growth and has been operating for 2 to 5 years.
Criteria: The candidate has demonstrated remarkable growth, innovation, and leadership in their industry sector during the first years of operation.
Workplace Excellence Award
This award will be given to an organization that, through its innovative human resource practices, provides employees with a positive, healthy and productive workplace.
Criteria: Through its commitment to staff development, work/life balance, fair employment practices and employee communications, the organization provides an exceptional work environment resulting in high employee satisfaction and retention.
Not-for-Profit Excellence Award
The award recognizes the accomplishments of organizations in the not-for-profit sector which contribute to the economic, social and/or cultural well-being of the greater Charlottetown area.
Criteria: The organization must have an established reputation for delivering a high level of programs and/ or services as well as a track record of efficient and effective management and strong board governance.
People’s Choice Award for Community Impact Award
The People’s Choice for Community Impact Award recognizes a small locally owned and operated for-profit business that has earned an engaged and loyal following and support from the community.
Criteria: The organization must be a small locally owned and operated for-profit business.
The winner will be decided through an online voting process that will open at the end of January 2021.
2020-21 SPECIAL AWARDS
The following awards have been added for 2020-2021 to celebrate those businesses that pivoted and persevered during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Excellence in Collaboration Award
This Award recognizes two or more uniquely owned businesses that displayed true Island spirit by working together during the COVID-19 pandemic to offer alternative or enhanced services and/or products.
Criteria: This Award recognizes two or more uniquely owned businesses that demonstrated true Island spirit by working together during the COVID-19 pandemic. Recipients will have displayed innovation, resiliency, and collaboration by delivering alternative or enhanced products and/or services as a result of the pandemic.
Excellence in Adaptation & Resiliency Award
This award recognizes a business that, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, made alterations in their businesses structure or function, a deviation from business-as-usual, and a courageous act of doing something new and different, that resulted in their product or service becoming better fitted to this new environment.
Criteria: This award recognizes a business that, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, made alterations in their business structure or function, deviated from business-as-usual, and/or courageously tried something new and different, that resulted in their product or service becoming better fitted to the new environment. The recipient will have quickly acted to reinvent its business model and shown resiliency in the face of adversity.
