The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 12th Annual President’s Excellence Awards sponsored by Atlantic Lottery on November 15th, 2017. Twenty finalists will be recognized for excellence in eight award categories during the Chambers “Biggest Night of the Year” at the Delta Prince Edward.
Over 45 organizations were nominated by their peers for these prestigious business awards. An independent panel of six judges adjudicated the submissions and selected three finalists in each category.
The Excellence in Business Award, sponsored by Scotiabank, is given to a business that has been operating for 10 or more years and has demonstrated excellence in all areas of business operations. The 2017 finalists are Century 21 Colonial Realty, Fair Isle Ford and Gahan House Pub.
The Emerging Business Award, sponsored by the City of Charlottetown, is given to a business that has been operating up to five years and has demonstrated remarkable growth, innovation and industry leadership. Canada’s Island Garden, Nutracelle and The Montessori School of Charlottetown are the three finalists in this category.
The Workplace Excellence Award, sponsored by RBC, recognizes an organization that, through its innovative human resource practices, provides employees with a positive, healthy and productive workplace. The category finalists are Browns Volkswagen, Grant Thornton, and Sylvan Learning Centre Charlottetown.
The Retail Excellence Award, sponsored by BDO and Cox & Palmer, recognizes a business that has shown a strong commitment to outstanding service, customer loyalty and community involvement and has demonstrated innovation within the sector. Honoured in this category are PEI Photo Lab, Receiver Coffee and Upstreet Brewery.
The Export Excellence Award, championed by Trade Team PEI, recognizes a business demonstrating growth in sales of their product and/or service to markets outside of the province. The finalists for this award are Island Water Technologies, PEI Brewing Company, and Sekisui Diagnostics PEI Ltd.
The Not-for-Profit Excellence Award, sponsored by Results Marketing & Advertising, recognizes the accomplishments of organizations in the not-for-profit sector which contribute to the economic, social and/or cultural well-being of the greater Charlottetown area. Bell Aliant Centre, PEI Association for Newcomers to Canada and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation are the three finalists in this category.
The Volunteer of the Year Award, sponsored by Maritime Electric Company and the Entrepreneur of the Year Award, sponsored by Provincial Credit Union, are awards where recipients are determined by the Executive Committee of the Chamber. These awards will be announced at a later date.
