Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016 will be a gala evening of celebration as the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce hosts the 11th annual President’s Excellence Awards sponsored by Atlantic Lottery. Twenty finalists will be recognized for excellence in eight award categories during the Chamber’s “Biggest Night of the Year” at the Delta Prince Edward.

More than 60 organizations were nominated by their peers for these prestigious business awards. An independent panel of six judges adjudicated the submissions and selected three finalists in each category.
The Excellence in Business Award, sponsored by Scotiabank, is given to a business that has been operating for 10 years or more and has demonstrated excellence in all areas of business operations. The 2016 finalists include Andrews Hockey Growth Programs, COWS Inc., and Red Island Hospitality Group.
The Emerging Business Award, sponsored by the City of Charlottetown, is given to a business that has been operating up to five years and has demonstrated remarkable growth, innovation, and industry leadership. Dave’s Lobster, High Valley Plumbing and Heating, and Upstreet Craft Brewing will vie for the top honour in this category.
The Workplace Excellence Award, sponsored by RBC, recognizes an organization that, through its innovative human resource practices, provides employees with a positive, healthy and productive workplace. The category finalists are 3 Points Aviation, Cooke Insurance Agency Ltd., and Murphy Hospitality Group.
The Retail Excellence Award, sponsored by BDO and Cox & Palmer, recognizes a business that has shown a strong commitment to outstanding service, customer loyalty and community involvement and has demonstrated innovation within its sector. Honoured in this category are Canadian Tire Charlottetown, Moonsnail Ltd., and Village Pottery.
The Export Excellence Award, championed by Trade Team PEI, recognizes a business demonstrating growth in sales of their product and/or service to markets outside of the province. The finalists for this award are ADL (Amalgamated Dairies Limited), DME (Diversified Metal Engineering), and PEI Mussel King.
The Not-for-Profit Excellence Award, sponsored by Results Marketing & Advertising, recognizes the accomplishments of organizations in the not-for-profit sector which contribute to the economic, social and/or cultural well-being of the greater Charlottetown area. Honoured in this category are Boys and Girls Club of Charlottetown, Confederation Centre of the Arts, and Hospice Palliative Care Association of PEI.
The Volunteer of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year award recipients are determined by the Executive Committee of the Chamber and will be announced at a later date.
